Five developing modes are recognized from population composition and mixing scale. The mixed-income housing policy in the US has experienced transformation from inclusionary development to mixed income neighborhood, from regeneration of physical space to enhancement of social-economic environment of target area, from place based initiative to place-people integrated strategy. Based on US experiences, implications are concluded for the affordable housing development in China.
