Diversified Policy and Institutional Explorations of Urban Regeneration Western European Countries

Abstract:

Urban regeneration has become the key task and the way one must take for China’s urban construction in the new era, so the desire and appeal of learning international experience on urban regeneration are unprecedented strong at present. Taking urban regeneration in western Europe as the study object, this paper first summarizes the general evolution of western European urban regeneration after World War II, and then analyzes the significance of policy and institution supply for urban regeneration, as well as their diversification in European countries. Finally, the paper focuses on the public funding system of urban regeneration in Germany, the policy transformation influence of urban regeneration in the Netherlands, the internal and external relations of urban regeneration in Luxembourg, and the informal planning path of urban regeneration in Switzerland, to illustrate the strategic responses of policy and institutional construction of urban regeneration in Western Europe.
